# Canopy full LLM context Canopy is a free, source-available, local-first desktop app for developers who run AI coding agents across multiple git branches. It provides a native workspace around Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex, OpenCode, terminal sessions, git worktrees, a browser, task context, and local diff review. Canonical site: https://canopy.itsol.tech/ ## Positioning Canopy is best described as: - A Claude Code GUI for multi-branch development. - An AI coding agent desktop workspace. - A git worktree manager for parallel agent sessions. - A session inspector for cost, token, context, status, and tool-call visibility. - A local-first desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Canopy is not a hosted IDE, a cloud agent platform, an analytics product, or a replacement for the underlying agent CLIs. It runs local tools and shows their state in one desktop workspace. ## Core workflows ### Multi-branch AI development Canopy lists git worktrees in one sidebar. Developers can create or open worktrees, run one or more agent sessions from those branches, and keep terminal state, session state, and local changes visible without cycling through many terminal tabs. Existing public copy specifically names Claude Code and Gemini CLI for Inspector support. When an AI agent session is running in the worktree, a developer can send inline review comments directly to that agent. The workflow is intended for reviewing AI-generated local changes before committing or opening a pull request. Developers can switch viewport presets, capture elements or screenshots, and send captured context to a running Claude Code or Gemini CLI session. Browser security note: browser tabs are associated with worktrees, but cookies and local storage are shared across Canopy browser tabs. Saved login sessions can carry between worktrees. Saved browser passwords use Electron safeStorage and OS keychain support where available. A task picker can help create a branch and worktree from a task key, and task title, description, comments, and attachments can be provided as agent context when a session starts. Public privacy and security copy says project files, source code, terminal output, Git data, workspace layouts, and settings stay on the user's machine through Canopy itself. Canopy is an orchestrator for local agent CLIs. Agent provider communication still happens between the user's machine and the provider used by the agent. For Claude Code, prompts and relevant code context are sent to Anthropic's API by Claude Code. Canopy does not proxy, modify, or log those API calls. Canopy applies local safeguards such as environment-variable filtering for agent processes, path validation for workspace directories, OS-backed secret storage where available, signed macOS builds, and signed Windows builds. Canopy does not claim to protect against every threat in the agent ecosystem. It does not add a second permission layer around actions an agent can perform if the user grants that agent filesystem or network access. Telemetry note: public privacy copy says the app can send one daily optional telemetry request with screen resolution, locale, app version, OS, and CPU architecture. It does not include project names, file paths, terminal output, keystrokes, stable user IDs, or usage patterns. Users can disable telemetry in Settings > Privacy. Website analytics note: the website uses self-hosted Umami analytics for anonymous visit statistics and download counts. ## Downloads - macOS: https://canopy.itsol.tech/download/mac - Windows: https://canopy.itsol.tech/download/windows - Linux: https://canopy.itsol.tech/download/linux macOS public copy says builds are notarized and support Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
